5 Reasons to Workout Today

I know it can be hard to muster up the motivation to workout. Especially if you have gotten out of the routine, or you feel like you just can’t get started. Here are 5 reasons to get yourself into a gym and back on track that can benefit you in the long run.

Reason #5. Gets you out of the house. Being a work from home mom, my routine can get very monotonous. I’m blessed in that I am able to work from home, but if I let it, I can get use my to comfy bubble. Monotony is also possible for those who work outside of the home. Work, home, kids, repeat. Throw the gym in there to change it up a bit. Try a spin class or Pilates class. The gym is an awesome place to socialize and network before and after class.

Reason #4. Meet like minded people. People who go to the gym have at least 1 thing in common. Any guesses on what it is? Yep, Fitness! Go observe and get inspired by the couple working out together, counting reps and pushing each other along the way. You’ll also see the besties encouraging each other and snapping pics and you’ll likely see the new mom dropping off her new baby to the gym daycare, so she can get back into her fitness routine. Introduce yourself and inquire about the exercise you saw her do earlier. I’ve met some of my best friends in the gym.

Reason #3. Endorphins. Sometimes reffered to as “feel-good” chemicals, endorphins are chemicals produced by the body that trigger positive feelings and help ease pain. The body releases endorphins during intense exercise. The amount of exercise and the intensity of of the feeling euphoria varies per person. If you’re feeling down or are stuck in a rut, pull yourself together, put your sneakers on and get in a good workout to help put you in a better mood.

Reason #2. Sense of accomplishment. There is nothing that comes close to the feeling of accomplishing the fitness goals you set for yourself. If you don’t have a specific goal, don’t worry about it. Do some thinking. What do you and don’t you like about your physique? What would you like to change about your health? Go to the gym and and workout until you find those goals and obtain the resources to achieve them. “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” Zig Ziglar.

Reason #1. Health is wealth. Heart disease is the #1 reason for death among Americans. Heart attacks and strokes kill more people every year than all cancer. Just let that sink in for a minute. Keep in mind, your heart is a muscle and needs to be kept healthy through diet and exercise. Improving your health and fitness by lowering fats and sodium and increasing exercise decreases your chance of getting heart disease. Don’t wait until there is a health issue and you’re forced to get on medications. Do it now. If not for yourself, then for your family and those who care about you.

There you have it. What are your reasons for working out? Post them below and let’s compare notes!
